DWELLING

2005

Dwelling is a multidisciplinary piece that explores the concept of “dwelling” as both a place to live and a dark emotional stasis. The piece has two components: a theatre work by Elana Freeman, that was presented at Dancemakers in Toronto over 4 nights in January, 2005, and an interactive sculptural/photographic installation by Melanie Gordon that was open to the public in the Case Goods Warehouse in Toronto over 3 weeks in January, 2005.
The public were invited to question their own perceptions of home by participating in an interactive installation where they were invited to enter a small white house at and write anonymously in a community journal.
The production of Dwelling was supported by the Laidlaw Foundation.
